Tianxin Pavilion
The only remaining iconic building of Changsha's ancient city, first built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, originally named Tianxing Pavilion (Star Pavilion) after the Changsha star in the sky. The pavilion features architectural style of city gates and towers from the Ming and Qing dynasties, with a three-story main pavilion and two-story north and south auxiliary pavilions connected by corridors. Climbing the pavilion offers a distant view of Yuelu Mountain and a close-up view of Changsha city, making it an important city symbol of Changsha.
Taiping Street
The most well-preserved Qing Dynasty street pattern in Changsha's ancient city, with traditional architectural elements such as bluestone slab roads, fire walls, and sloping roofs well preserved. Both sides of the street are lined with shops, including historical relics such as Jia Yi's Former Residence, Lisheng Salt Shop, and Qian Yisheng Grain Store, as well as numerous traditional snack and cultural and creative shops, making it a concentrated display area of old Changsha customs.
Jia Yi's Former Residence
The former residence of Jia Yi, a famous political commentator and litterateur of the Western Han Dynasty, when he served as the tutor of the King of Changsha. Known as the source of Huxiang culture, the existing buildings were rebuilt in 1996, including Jia Taifu Shrine, Taifu Hall, and Xunqiu Thatched Cottage. It displays Jia Yi's life story and works, being one of the oldest cultural relics in Changsha.
Du Fu Jiangge
Built to commemorate Du Fu, a famous poet of the Tang Dynasty, located on the Xiangjiang River Scenic Belt, facing Orange Island and Yuelu Mountain across the river. The pavilion is a Ming and Qing style building, with a four-story main pavilion standing 20 meters high. It houses exhibitions of Du Fu's life and poems, and is an excellent location to enjoy the scenery of the Xiangjiang River and the fireworks at Orange Island.
